I have never been charged $500 pesos at a consultorio, usually 200 to maybe 300 pesos. We pay specialists $800 – 1k pesos. We have been to many consultorios and specialists and have been VERY happy with the care. Our local Dr. often doesn’t even charge us … we have to insist on paying! Also, our pueblo has ” rural medicine “…. not sure what that means exactly but we haven’t ever been asked to pay for care at the IMMS clinic or when hospitalized. Another reason I ❤️Mexico!
