That was a bit unnerving!

At all times the trains were run in a safe comfortable and efficient way. I anxiously wait to use them again. Imagine a trip from Queretaro to DF in 1 and 1/hours! The bottleneck on highway 57 will end. This will work, be good for the people, the climate and bring increased prosperity to many isolated areas of the country. I liked this comprehensive article and salute the author.

I appreciate that Mexico is investing in trains, but agree that safety needs to be visibly prioritized.

I, too, am on Team Train here in the states and have watched with guarded optimism the unfolding of Morena’s ambitious rail project. I think the environmental concerns are real. I’m especially dismayed about the secrecy and haste of the Nogales-Guayamas being built by the army. A red flag for me, and not a high mark for Morena given the level of habitat destruction involved. I do think your recommendation about what Mexico could learn from countries with robust and successful passenger rail systems is excellent. To that I would add that there may also need to be a focused public awareness campaign to re-sell rail travel to the people. My concern is, notwithstanding the president’s assurances, Morena has not demonstrated a great willingness to listen to others. There’s sort of a “trust us, we’ve got this” attitude that sometimes borders on arrogance or hubris. I hope Mexico can avoid the trap.
