Anyway, I get (Plastic) garrafones of electic water for rinsing salad (with anti-bacterial drops) and making tea/coffee. But for straight drinking I’ve managed, to age 80 now, with Peñafiel, pure naturally-sparkling glacier run-off source-bottled. At least, that’s my story and Ii’m sticking to it. Saludos desde Acapulco!

My thought differ on a couple of key points .
Researchers have found that a liter of bottled water contains 240,000 fragments of plastic , (known as nanoplastics) . Not just from the plastic water bottles, but from the plastic filters used for purify. The average adult now has the weight of a plastic spoon ( 4900 + micrograms) worth of plastic in their brain.
Travis may be the worlds record holder:) Off course there are many sources. but plastic bags and water bottle are top contenders

Studies have shown that people with dementia have 10 x’s the amount of nanoplastics in their brain as those without this diagnosis. Putting fruits and vegetables in plastic bags are other key culprits. When we shop we bring with us reusable nylon bags .
One of the largest beverage companies in the U.S. gets about half their filtered water from the Detroit River. These nano particle messes up you gut, brain and endocrine system over time.
As the author of “Misinformed About Food”, I researched the world’s healthiest water. In the U.S., it’s Mountain Valley. Years ago we received home delivery and insisted on glass bottles. Later I worked with an expert in the industry, a chemical engineer who built a one of a kind residential filtration system . His wife had all sorts of chemical sensitivities which diminished over time as a result of drinking his filtered water . I’ve purchased this for two different homes. The water in my bathtub is light blue. Yes, a bathtub. Yes, another spoiled American – don’t shoot!
FYI. When you swim in a pool and your eyes burn. a common misconception is that there’s too much chlorine in the water . But in reality, there’s not enough. Over time chlorine bonds with ammonia from sweat and urine and forms a molecule known as chloramine. It’s the chloramine that’s burning your eyes. Actually shocking the water by super chlorinating it is required to break up these molecules m. They’re buggers.

You can find filters to easily remove chlorine from your drinking water. But you’d be hard pressed to find a system that also removes chloramine. Mine does. Few do. I bring this up because in the states, the vast majority of municipalities use chloramine to treat their water, rather than chlorine, because it’s cheaper and lasts seemingly forever .
I won’t go into all that’s wrong with drinking water from plastic bottles, and unfiltered tap water. I suggest anyone that can afford one use a whole home filtration system .
For those that can’t, consider a high quality water in glass bottles .
For water on the go, I carry a stainless steel bottle filled with filtered water . I’m told that Amazon Mexico sells Brita filtered glass water bottles and that companies like Leblon and Pentair, also through Amazon Mexico will arrange regular home delivery . For those that can’t afford any of these options, consider a great filter for your drinking and shower water . Today, great advances have been made in under the sink filtration systems.

The following DO remove not only hazardous fluoride ( another discussion ) but chlorine, as well as very hard to remove chloramine:
– *Frizzlife Under Sink Water Filter System*: This system is NSF/ANSI 53&42 certified and removes 99.99% of lead, chlorine, chloramine, fluoride, and other contaminants.
– *Waterdrop TSA Under-Sink Filter*: This filter reduces PFAS, PFOA/PFOS, fluoride, chlorine, and chloramine, and is NSF/ANSI 42 certified.
– *Clearly Filtered Pitcher*: This pitcher removes 99.9% of chlorine and 99.5% of fluoride, and also reduces chloramine levels.
– *AquaTru Countertop RO System*: This system removes 99% chlorine and 93.5% fluoride, and is effective against chloramine.

For those that want to help reduce the amount of water we all consume, stop eating meat! Though I don’t know the stats in Mexico, 30 – 50 % of groundwater in the U.S. is used for livestock, with the majority used to raise cattle. If you’re also looking to reduce global warming as well, stop eating meat. In the states, cattle produce 37 % of the methane in the atmosphere , and methane is about 50 % of all global greenhouse gas emissions. The next time someone preaches to you about global warming, ask them if they’ve given up meat:)
Reverse osmosis systems have their place, but the also remove important minerals. My whole home unit leaves them in.
One last suggestion. Sample your tap water and send it to a qualified place for testing . Our filters water in Mexico received high marks. Hope this helps .
PS Ice cubes are no safer than the water they’re made from. And worse, if they’re frozen in plastic trays.
