Comments on: Mexico is becoming friendlier to labor, but there’s one big problem: A perspective from our CEO https://mexiconewsdaily.com/opinion/mexico-labor-productivity-problem-ceo-perspective/ Mexico's English-language news Thu, 25 Dec 2025 14:42:11 +0000 hourly 1 By: Sarah DeVries https://mexiconewsdaily.com/opinion/mexico-labor-productivity-problem-ceo-perspective/comment-page-1/#comment-27756 Thu, 25 Dec 2025 14:42:11 +0000 https://mexiconewsdaily.com/?p=641374#comment-27756 Honest question: how is productivity per worker measured? When I look around (which I know is the very definition of anecdotal, haha), I see every worker I come across doing lots and lots of work for lots and lots of hours and very little pay compared to what it really costs to meet one’s expenses here. So how are they…not being productive? Or what could they do to be more so?

The education question is an interesting one. I’ve seen many young people here watch older family members do all the right things — do good in school, get a degree, etc…only to face employment prospects that offer not much more than the minimum wage and endless hours. Especially for those “from the bottom” (i.e. sans upper class connections), the conclusion is often something like “why do all that work for so little reward?” — and that’s on the country to answer.

The precise problems with employees’ jobs and economies is: 75% of available employees can produce all the products and services needed by 100% of the population. This is only getting worse due to industrialization, AI, robotization, labor-decreasing software, etc.

All of the above causes mass immigration and political responses in more developed economies. The answer lies in the distribution of wealth.

If you are young enough, you will live in a world in which the billionaires will be hunted down and ……………! They set the laws and rules for the distribution of wealth and taxes, and they will pay the consequences for, let’s say, when only 50% of the available labor force is needed to produce all the goods and services that 100% of the population needs.

Let’s start dealing with the real problem.

How about giving this President a chance. She has just begun the uphill battle to improve the working class.

In the US productivity has increased substantially in recent decades but virtually all the benefits of this increased productivity have gone to executives and owners. Wage growth after inflation is virtually stagnant.

That said, the Mexican education system certainly needs improvement. And young people need to perceive a value in continuing their education.

You really ARE a volunteer victim! What’s the big deal? All that information is already out there and if you’re not doing anything illegal you don’t need to worry about it…. This might even be a positive thing!

-Now, to use your cell phone, you have to go to a customer service center and hand over a copy of your ID, your CURP (Unique Population Registry Code), and your voter ID. Otherwise, your line will become obsolete, and you won’t be able to have a cell phone unless you link your data to your phone.
