My prediction for the peso in 2026: it’ll strengthen to 15 by year end next year, and then will likely go to 12 or 13 as we get into 2027.

You did very well, particularly as regards domestic issues. Everything is relative is perhaps a lesson from your economic predictions. It seems that US tariffs haven’t had the expected negative impact on Mexican exports because they are lower than what much of the rest of the world faces. As regards, the value of the peso, what has been a major factor in it maintaining its value has been in the relative weakening of the US Dollar. As regards the stock market, in Dollar terms performance is much less impressive relative to European and Asian markets.

Thank you Billy-bob. Predicting the stock market next year after 3 consecutive years of double digit gains is fraught with peril. That said, I spend hours a day reading about the markets and economics and politics so I can’t help myself. I think that the punch bowl will not be taken away in 2026 and in fact Trump’s policies and the new Fed chief will only serve to add more “booze to the mix”. Lower gasoline prices, lower interest rates, and strong corporate earnings (fueled by AI efficiencies) all point towards continued strong stock growth in 2026 in my humble and not expert opinion. Of course, there are many things that could happen to throw momentum quickly off, including many things Trump might say or do. Stay tuned…I think it will be a fascinating year on both sides of the border!
