This will explain a lot of why the USA felt a need to take action. Ask the US oil companies that had their equipment stolen and a funds held about this action. Mexico should not be afraid of this action, they should support it. This is an act to protect the Americas. One of our countries has defected and began to support Russia, Iran and China, All of which have bad wishes for the USA. And as the USA goes, so does the Americas. From the Tip of Chile to the Top of Canada, We need to stick together.

One that’s a complete fantasy that ignores the fact the UN is feckless and captured by imperial interests. Two, they’d have to have the world’s biggest army and take on counties like Saudi Arabia, Israel, China, Russia. Give me a break.

Stop with the nonsensical casual justification of the US’s imperial gunboat diplomacy by repeating the tired excuses about how ‘evil’ Venezuela is. You and everyone else knows the US does not give one iota of sympathy for the Venezuelan people.

We have no business intervening in that country or any other.

Absolutely Nothing Else. US interventions have always been about something to make somebody richer, be it Cuba, Panama, Honduras, Nicaragua, coup’s in Chile, Haiti, the Dominican Republic …. it’s always oil or bananas, or sugar or United Fruit, just follow the bloody money. Disgusting.

Good logical solution. Those who want can party with legal and controled quality of cocain and all the rest. This will cut down on avoidable accidental deaths. Risky behavior may lead to deaths, but that becomes a personal choice….a very conservative position that should be acceptable to all political factions.

I think Trump will back down on his threats to enter Mexico in this same way.

Quote by the Presidenta, the United Nations is worthless, all bluster and speeches, but very little good constructive action.
In regards to what happened in Venezuela, no matter whether you support or detest Trump it was a legal “law enforcement” action taken against 2 people who were legally indicted in a U.S. Federal Court by a Federal judge and in the liberal State of New York nonetheless. Now as far as any other underlying reasons for this, unless you are part of the current administration in Washington you’re just guessing, and your prejudices or supportive outlook on the administration leads to your so called conclusions.
Travis great article, keep up the good journalism .

Remember him? Trump could have done the same thing with Venezuela in his first term. But he didn’t need the distraction. Let’s not be too naive. The spin machine in Washington has successfully changed the narrative in such an impressive way that no one remembers that Trump is a convicted criminal who partied with sex traffickers. We’re all agog with being the butch savior of poor Latin America that we’ve lost our memory.

In fact, growing number of fentanyl fatalities are a result of counterfeit prescription drugs: OxyContin, Percocet, Vicodin, Xanax and Adderall all non-lethal. Is that voluntary fentanyl ingestion?
