Wonderful history and one can watch the seeds being implanted into the oyster shell before being returned to the sea to develop.

Striking up a conversation with one elderly former pearl diver, I ask him why the pearl industry had died and was surprised at his answer. He told me matter a factly that the Japanese had poisoned the La Paz pearl beds to eliminate competition of Japanese pearls.

The restaurant, open to the street was a great place to have breakfast. The food wasn’t really very good, the waiters were usually a bit snippy, but you couldn’t top the ambiance or the view.
