Lots of red lights in this report from MCV. Remember this is only the first year. I am sure that Mexico can make a big turn around in the next 5 years or more.

What the new reform by AMLO changed:
– Abolished the punitive evaluation system and the General Law of Professional Teaching Service (LGSPD).
– Created the National Center for the Revaluation of Teachers and Continuous Improvement of Education.
– Made higher education compulsory.
– Promotes integral, equitable, and high‑quality education.
– Strengthened Indigenous education and support for high‑marginalization schools.
The 2013 educational reform was passed with no input from teachers or parents. IMHO his reform is much better.

It’s a shame that AMLO tore up the educational reform. For a country to compete internationally, it needs a literate citizenry. It would also assist raising people from poverty. Sadly, some governments depend on illiterate citizens to maintain power.

Having worked in the Community Economic Development profession for decades, I would rather than this effort be touted as a Socioeconomic Development Plan and not an economic plan. An economic plan is mostly statistical, makes aspirational assumptions, and is very dependent upon heavy subsidies to artificially appear as successful.
