Current technology allows archeologists to extract much information if artifacts are not disturbed, and the knowledge that can result from scientifically excavating artifacts enriches us all. Looting steals from everyone the opportunity to better understand our history. Señor Blue doesn’t seem to understand that much of the cultural value of an artifact derives from understanding its provenience.

Very interesting article about Zapotec artifacts and the collusion of INAH. Just an aside, I just finished reading a novel by Clive Cussler called “Mayan Secrets”. It is a very exciting story about the crime world of marijuana, cocaine and stolen Mayan relics and how a pair of adventurers fight to protect archaeological sites and the Mayan people. I tried to fact check as much as I could and all that I found is that it is factual.
